Igniting Passion, Aligning Values, Transforming Culture for Superior Bottom-line Results!

Here are some projects implemented by OD Transform Inc. (ODT) Associates:

Strategic Planning

Hampton Center, Central Florida Community College (CFCC)

The Hampton Center of the Central Florida Community College (CFCC) is home to two of the College's Health and Human Services programs including the Physical Therapy Assistant Program and Dental Assisting program.

During 2006, the Hampton Center contracted OD Transform Inc. to facilitate community participation in the design of its Strategic Plan 2007 – 2012.  ODT proposed an Appreciative Inquiry approach which was approved by the Advisory Committee of the Center.  Our Associate designed an action program which engaged the community, Faculty, staff and students.

According to the Director of the Hampton Center:

“An important part of the planning process was to engage the community in discussions about their dreams for the future.  We hope to address real needs as we expand on the programs and services offered.”

One member of the Advisory Committee stated:

“This was a positive experience that encouraged participation and established bridges to the community that will serve the College well for years to come.”

The results of this intervention were the strategic goals and objectives for the plan and a valuable tactical framework for ongoing operations of the Center.

Operations Optimization

Carpet Manufacturer

A major carpet manufacturer in the United States had been experiencing production problems which were impacting negatively on the bottom line.  We partnered with the company to improve the sequencing of work, reduce changeover times, increase machine speeds to make them closer to capacity and resolve mechanical issues; implemented a Management Operating System to provide managers with tools to forecast, plan, assign, follow up and evaluate operations in timely manner and take corrective action; set job standards; and improved planning process to balance resource levels with fluctuating work volumes.

Results of this assignment included:

  • Increased production of 35%;
  • Annualized savings of $239,800;
  • Reduced tufting seconds from .13% to .09% vs. target of .1%; and
  • Reduced dye waste to .4% from 1.4%.

Third Party Health Care Administration

We partnered with this US client and implemented an effective Management Operating System.  During the assignment, we identified over 150 opportunities for improvement and coached teams to accomplish over 75% of the improvements within 3 months. We also developed job standards, revised goals, created daily production reports and coached Supervisors and Managers on productivity improvement techniques. We developed Frontline through the Executive levels balanced scorecard and implemented a system of continuous improvement.

Results of this assignment included:

  • Annual savings of over $1.1m; and
  • Improved claims processed by 15% with 33% fewer resources.

Aligning Values

Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat

During 2001-2002, an OD Transform Inc. Associate designed a process to transform the organization by collaboratively identifying Core Values.  The Executive Management Committee of the CARICOM Secretariat approved the process and twenty-two focus groups consisting of more than 95 per cent of staff, engaged in the consultative sessions.  ODT diagnosed the major areas of concern and designed and facilitated a consultative process to generate a common vision of the organization and the values required to support its achievement.

The staff identified five Core Values for implementation.  ODT designed and facilitated a series of implementation workshops to help the staff take personal ownership of the values.  These processes significantly reduced the resistance to the implementation of the values and improved performance.

Results of this assignment included:

  • Ownership by staff of the Core Values;
  • Improved operational efficiency and performance;
  • Reduction in time spent negotiating conflict;
  • Creation of a more trusting environment and greater collaboration across the organization.

Change Management and Outplacement Services

Our client, the National Bank of Industry and Commerce (NBIC) in Guyana, South America had merged with a smaller bank.  OD Transform Inc. was contracted during the acquisition process, to design and deliver Change Management Workshops for over 400 staff to facilitate the evolution of a cohesive organizational culture, reduce the potential for conflict and improve productivity in the shortest possible timeframe.

The result of this first phase of the assignment was the smooth operation of the merged entity with limited conflict and other dysfunctional behavioral issues typically associated with mergers, and improved productivity.

Later in the process, ODT designed and delivered Outplacement Workshops for affected staff who were seeking other jobs and those who proposed to start their own businesses.

The latter activity reinforced the Bank's standing as a good corporate citizen and generated goodwill in the local community.
